WJ Avalon Motor Home
The chassis and cab are from the new Mercedes 315 long-wheelbase Sprinter, and WJ Motorhomes offer four-berth and five-berth models, both with the same outer body. In other words, there is no more ‘Cub’ with flat luton bed or ‘Standard’ with raised luton bed. Both now have two double beds, and the five-berth includes a fold-down luton for a child (50 kg limit). This fifth berth can be fitted to order or as an after-sale option.
The double beds convert into dinettes (4-seat at the rear, 3-seat at the front), and there is good storage space under both dinettes. In the galley, Avalon purchasers will find a 12 volt Engel fridge/freezer, two-burner gas stove, 19 litre silver microwave, and stainless sink with hot and cold water on tap. There are also storage cupboards, cutlery drawer, Formica counter, and cupboard for crockery and glasses.
The luxurious bathroom has pull-out shower handle and hot-and-cold mixer, cassette Porta Potty, vanity basin with storage pedestal, shower caddy and pan, and a very important skylight.
The new Avalon features ample storage space with overhead lockers, cupboards, wardrobe, bunks, outside storage hatches, and front and rear magazine pouches.
As for water, there is a 100 litre tank and 12 volt pump plus water-level indicator and a Hansen 220 volt electrical / gas geyser. On the electrical side, the Avalon comes with two deep-cycle batteries with charger and level indicator. The system runs 12 volt fluorescent lights, fridge, water system and geyser. There are two 4,5 kg gas bottles - one for the geyser, one for the stove. A 220 volt air-conditioner for cooling is also fitted.
The new Avalon is available with optional awning, and the WJ Pacer is scheduled to receive the new look shortly.
